Got Questions?

Drying time depends on several factors, including carpet density, fibre type, room temperature, humidity, air movement, and the cleaning method used. Most carpets dry in 3–6 hours after Hot Water Extraction (steam cleaning), and 1–2 hours with low‑moisture methods.

Topical treatments such as carpet protectors may extend drying time, sometimes up to 24 hours. However, when proper cleaning techniques are used, carpets should never take “days” to dry.

Carpetech™ ensures significantly faster drying times, and high‑velocity air movers are available upon request for even quicker results.

There are several different carpet‑cleaning methods, each with its own strengths and limitations.

Hot Water Extraction (often called steam cleaning) uses heated water that is injected deep into the carpet under controlled pressure and then immediately extracted with a powerful vacuum. Truck‑mounted units — and some high‑quality portable systems — use this method. Hot Water Extraction is widely considered the most thorough and effective cleaning process.

Dry Cleaning and Low‑Moisture Methods come in many variations. These systems may use powders, crystals, solvents, or shampoos that are applied to the carpet and then buffed, vacuumed, or absorbed.

While dry‑cleaning methods can be less expensive and offer faster drying times, they are generally less effective. Because there is no rinsing step, residues are often left behind, especially when the operator lacks proper training. However, ULM (Ultra Low Moisture) Bonnet Rotary Cleaning can be suitable for routine maintenance of low‑pile carpet or commercial common areas when performed correctly.

We offer the best of both industry approved methods:

Ultra Low Moisture cleaning ( Bonnets Rotary, and HydraMaster RDM). Plus, we use HWE cleaning methods (Truckmounted and portables).  Depending on the needs of the client and textile, the technician will determine the best approach.

Yes.  There are many topical treatment products available. There are differences in their formulations and quality of protection. Insist on well known brand names for the best protection. Good quality carpet protectors do help to reduce soiling, permanent stains, and increase the longevity of your investments.

Vacuum regularly with a HEPA filtered vacuum cleaner. Clean entrance ways more often. Always clean up spills immediately. Have a fibre protecting topical treatment (soil repellant) applied by a professional.  You may also find these articles helpful.

Odour removal depends entirely on the source of the smell. Most general malodours will fade within a day or two after cleaning. It’s important to allow fresh air and airflow during drying — avoid sealing the room up immediately after cleaning.

Some odours, such as pet urine, mildew, or smoke, require specialized treatments. In certain cases, additional surfaces like walls may also need to be cleaned. The first step is always to identify and remove the source of the odour, followed by thorough cleaning.

For severe issues — such as cat spray or advanced mildew — the underpad, carpet, or baseboards may need to be removed. The subfloor may require sealing, and walls may need repainting. All porous materials should be inspected for odour absorption and treated appropriately.

Additional deodorization methods may be necessary depending on the situation. When in doubt, consult a professional — we’re always here to help.

Some spots — especially tannins from food, beverages, or blood — may appear to be removed during cleaning but can re‑surface as the carpet dries. These spots usually require an additional treatment.

If a spot does not come out at all, it may be classified as a permanent stain, or it may require a specialized treatment beyond standard cleaning.

If you notice new spots after drying that were not visible before, contact us within the warranty period (see your invoice for details). In many cases, a simple pH adjustment is all that’s needed, and this service is provided free of charge for our clients. See our AfterCare information for more details.

How often you should clean your carpets depends largely on the amount of traffic in your home. Don’t wait until your carpets look or smell dirty — that usually means it’s been too long between cleanings.

Homes with children and/or pets may require professional cleaning every three to four months. If you suffer from allergies, more frequent cleaning of both carpets and upholstery is recommended to help reduce allergens.

At a minimum, carpets should be professionally cleaned at least once per year to maintain appearance, hygiene, and longevity.  We have several recommended articles you should read that may be helpful.

There are many types of carpet and upholstery textiles available, and it’s important not to choose based on price alone. Styles and colours are a personal preference, but remember that each style — such as berber, saxony, or velvet — can be made from one or several different fibre types.

Take a little time to research before you invest. Every textile has its own advantages and limitations. For a detailed “pros and cons” list of the most common fibres used in carpet and upholstery, click here.
